Larry Collins
District 2 Commissioner
Commissioner Larry Collins was born in McCormick, South Carolina to Mildred Drinkard Collins of Lincolnton and Sneed Collins of Cotter, Arkansas who met while Larry’s father was stationed at Fort Gordon.  Though he grew up in Arkansas, Larry spent time in Lincolnton with his family every summer visiting grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  It was during these annual visits that Larry fell in love with Lincoln County.

In 1977 Larry married Emmye Ward of Lincolnton and moved her to his home in Arkansas; however, in  1979 they made the decision to move to Lincolnton.  He and Emmye have 9 children and 20 grandchildren.  Commissioner Collins retired from Thomson Plastics Inc. in 2017 after working 35 years in the Human Resources field.

Commissioner Collins served as commissioner of District 2 from 1997 until 2010 and was re-elected in 2015. Larry believes that while he represents the people of District 2, he actually serves all the citizens of Lincoln County, looking out for the present as well as the future of the county.  Commissioner Collins has always been willing to listen to both sides of an issue; then based on the facts, he casts his vote even if it goes against the majority opinion.
